Back Me Up

Client: Back Me Up
Role: Brand development, UX, design and art direction
Agency: M&C Saatchi

Back Me Up is a new digitally based insurance product predominately aimed at young people. After a pitch win to work on their launch advertising we quickly impressed with our ideas for the brand itself and were tasked with creating their brand and visual identity as well as designing the actual digital product itself. My role in this project was as overall design lead and was very hands on in all aspects of the design process. From creating the brand identity and guideline document to leading the UX, visual and interaction design for the website and mobile app. Unfortunately the build was out of our control which is a less than ideal scenario when developing digital products such as this. The ideal being far more collaborative process. So the task of aligning our designs and the final product is still an ongoing project.

The UX process involved various levels of prototyping. The above shows the wireframe map for the first version of the app.

The Back Me Up app allows users to take photos of their stuff and get instantly insured. They can add as many items as they like and swap cover whenever they need to using the app.
